Mount Olympus, the highest mountain in Europe is where Greek gods are said to dwell. The early myths of Mount Olympus state that the gods lived alone but as time went by they came to mingle with mortals. This created heroic beings such as Perseus who killed the many-headed Gorgon. Heroic beings were troublesome as well as brave, so eventually, Zeus decided that there should be no more god-human hybrids born and the gods withdrew into their mountain.

Mount Olympus is a relatively easy climb, but the last walk up to the summit is considered difficult and to be attempted by serious climbers only. Many people have reached the top of some of the lesser peaks, but only great climbers have seen the world from the top of its highest peak.

Using the Hermes II Terminal Java applet, you can log in directly from this
web page. Make sure you can see the entire terminal window (the black box
at the bottom of the page) and then click anywhere in the window to connect.

If you are unable to see the Terminal window or you get a message letting
you know that you need Java to use the applet, make sure that you have Java
turned on in your web browser. If you can see the Terminal, but you cannot
connect to Olympus, you may have ‘Network Access’ disable for Java applets in
your web browser. Set this to ‘Applet Host Access’ in Internet Explorer. If
you are using Netscape, you will need to set network security to ‘Medium’ for
Java applets.
